D. Benjamin Borson, M.A., J.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Borson was and is primary Intellectual Property Counsel for numerous start-up, small, and mid-sized companies in the chemistry, life sciences and advanced materials industries, bioinformatics and information technology both for United States based and foreign companies. He provides legal, scientific, business and technical advice to help companies build and exploit business relationships and intellectual assets through developing IP and technology strategies, drafting and prosecution of patents, preparation of legal opinions and licensing. Current and past clients include those in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advanced material, information technology, superconductor, medical device, instrumentation and semiconductor industries.
Dr. Borson has extensive experience as a research scientist in University and Corporate settings, and served on Editorial Boards of major peer review publications and grant review committees. Previous to entering law, Dr. Borson held a faculty position at the University of California, San Francisco, where he carried out a program in basic biomedical research. He authored over 70 primary research articles, reviews, book chapters, and abstracts and presented his research findings at numerous national and international scientific meetings.
Dr. Borson recently founded the Borson Law Group, PC, where he and his Associates carry out a diverse intellectual property practice. Previously, Dr. Borson was Of Counsel with the firm of Fliesler Meyer LLP, a law firm specializing in Intellectual Property Law. He is a frequent author in IP law, with over a dozen publications in legal journals and has presented over 30 lectures in legal matters to industry, academic organizations and legal organizations.
Dr. Borson is licensed to practice law in the State of California, the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
